The Iowa Chinese in Agriculture (ICIA), a non-profit and volunteer-based 501(c)3 organization, was established in 2006. ICIA members consist of professionals in research, education, production, and business in agriculture across Iowa. ICIA’s mission is to provide a platform to serve our local communities and to organize Chinese culture related events/activities to improve member’s after-work life (and at-work life). ICIA also to foster a favorable environment for attracting, retaining, and motivating world  class agricultural professionals to work in Iowa.

ICIA, a non-profit and volunteer-based 501(c)3 organization, was established in 2006. ICIA Board of Directors gives the vision and direction of the organization and Executive Committee conducts the daily duty.

ICIA members consist of professionals in research, education, production, and business in agriculture across Iowa. As a non-profit organization, its goal is to establish a platform to foster the interaction and collaboration of agricultural professionals in US and China. To achieve this goal, the following aspects are our current foci:

  • Promote application of the modern agricultural science and technology and agricultural constitutive development in Iowa;
  • Create a favorable environment in Iowa for recruiting world class experts in agricultural sciences;
  • Maximize contribution of Chinese American scientists in agricultural development in US, China and the world;
  • Create more opportunities for exchanging new agricultural technologies across US and China;
  • Establish a friendly bridge between agricultural professionals in US and China.

ICIA provides various services. Through scientific activities sponsored or co-sponsored by ICIA, agricultural professionals in US and China can share leading-edge agricultural technologies and initiate future collaborations. The news and technology track columns in ICIA website provide information in personal development, technology learning, and communication. In addition, ICIA sponsors variety of social activities for our members.

Currently, ICIA members are mainly from international companies and  universities in Iowa and State Government, such as Pioneer Hi-Bred International, A DuPont Company (http://www.pioneer.com/), John Deere (http://www.johndeere.com/), BASF Plant Sciences LLC(http://www.corporate.basf.com/), Monsanto Company (http://www.monsanto.com/), Syngenta(http://www.syngenta.com/, Kemin (http://www.kemin.com/), Iowa State University(http://www.iastate.edu/), University of Iowa(http://www.uiowa.edu/), Drake University (http://www.drake.edu/), State of Iowa (http://www.state.ia.us/). Expertise covers all fields in agriculture, for example, biotechnology, plant and animal sciences, agricultural and biosystems engineering, bioenergy and biofuels, agricultural business, agriculture education, bioinformatics and information technology, food and feed sciences, regulatory sciences, stewardship and biotech acceptance.
